Enjoy some flowers & your Valentines Day!
Currently I am in my break room trying to hold my face together while I cough. 🤧
Only 30 minutes left.
Why not make a quick blog post while I hide! 😷
A few nights ago before all the snow hit, I went to capture some pretty horses in a field close to me.
This is the only one that paid me any attention.
He became my friend. He loved the spot light.
I also love how misty these pictures look!
He is just like me…just a little “hoarse”! 🙈🙈🤣👏🏻
I work an 8-5 job, so the “ideal” picture taking times are hard for me on the weekdays. Especially during the winter because you know…it’s dark.
However, Thursday, I thought I might get lucky enough to catch the last bit of sunlight to take pictures of these ducks at the local park my parents live by.
As I got to the park and started out of my car, I could hear the geese honking. I could see a few of them too. I knew they were used to getting fed, even though they are not suppose to.
As I walked up to the fence, the honks grew louder, and I am so glad my camera was ready because they all swarmed toward me. 🦆🦆🦆
It was an attack!!!
They must of thought I had food.
I most definitely did not think to bring food.
Please don’t hurt me. I was wondering if they would actually jump the fence.
Eventually they realized I did not have food, and they started to calm down.
And before it got too cold and dark (I was still in my office clothes) I was able to capture these fun photos.
A goose waddle.
Hey!! I’m trying to sleep!
I see you. 😋
I don’t know why I like this old barn so much, but it is right across my street.
The trees in the background and all the snow make it look so rustic.
Which one is your favorite filter?
Black and white??
Have you ever been afraid that an icicle is going to fall and stab you?? Well…maybe we should be more afraid that they will reach out and grab us!! 🖐🏼
Now that is just creepy!
Here are some little creeps hanging from my nice little house!
Its a dark cloudy evening. We had just gotten lots of snow!
See just so finger like!! It’s a winters witch!! 🧙🏼♀️
Stay safe now!!
Here are some more pinecone pictures. Sorry I haven’t blogged in forever. I do have tons of pictures to share! We can blame work…🙈
A good friend and I ventured up to Pineview reservoir yesterday morning to take some winter photos. Pineview, for those who don’t know, is in Huntsville Utah. We also did this to give me more opportunities to take pictures of people. We took our husbands. So scary! 🙈
If you read-“About Gurr’s Gallery,” I am more comfortable taking pictures of scenery…etc, but not people.
Even though we were in freezing temperatures, the scenery was able to warm my heart! It was just what I was looking for.
The lake was frozen over and full of ice fisherman. We even ventured out onto it a little ways. That was an adventure for me. It was hard to tell where shore and land met, and there was so much snow!! At one point, I thought I had broken through the ice, but really, I was mostly likely on land and was just breaking through calf high snow. That about gave me a heart attack. Good thing I was also wearing my tall boots. That would have been a cold and wet next few hours.
It had been a foggy night, and as you can see the trees were beautiful!! They were covered in hoarfrost, and just glistened. You could still see the fog floating around the mountains.
This one is my favorite picture. I love trees, and I love this giant towering one.
I usually hate winter. Actually I despise it, but if I am around more scenes like this, I could at least put up with it!
As I said in my first post “About Gurr’s Gallery,” I am obsessed with pine cones. And in the winter time, pine cones are just beautiful!
When I was little, and lived in El Paso, there aren’t a lot of…well…trees. Or plants. Or bushes. There are a lot of rocks. Rocks grew quite well there. I do remember some rose bushes in my back yard, which was strange. And the grass always struggled to be green. BUT, there were pine trees, so the only thing that would “fall” (because pine needles don’t change colors and fall off) were pine cones!
One Christmas while we were there, my little sister collected a bunch of pine cones and painted them to hang on the tree. They were very pretty. She sent them to my grandmother who was at the time struggling with cancer. Since that time, pine cones have always held a special spot in my heart.
So, I hope you enjoy this little photo shoot that I had with these pine cones. ❤️
Here I practiced an editing technique. In the top one, I brought in some deeper colors, almost to cool it. Don’t know if I am a fan of it or not…
I am NOT a fan of winter, but pine cones make it a little bit warmer. ❤️❤️
It has been so dark, and cold, and icky lately. I wake up to go to work…dark and cold. I come home from work…darker and colder.
I have never felt so pale.
On Christmas I got this shot. Not to rain down on Christmas but isn’t that just depressing?
It’s all grey and smoggy. If you ever come to Utah, you need to be wary of the inversion in the winter time. It makes us native Utahns sick. 😝
However, I thought this was a cool shot of the Rocky Mountain range. It was probably currently snowing on the tips.
But winter is overrated. I’m not saying I want it super hot. I am a good luke warm water fish. Weeks like these make me miss summer and our vacation adventures. Mostly these ones in particular.
This is a beautiful red rock picture in Zion’s National Park. Haven’t been? Probably should make some plans to go…
My family and I enjoy hiking and being outside. Southern Utah is a favorite of ours! There are so many different trails, and different adventures you can take!
So, I dedicate this post to summer. Please come soon. ☀️
This holiday season of 2018 was spectacular. It was this year that my family all pitched in and got me my new camera-thanks to my sweet husband.
One of my favorite things about Christmas time are lights! 🎄 All the beautiful pretty lights!! Each city in Utah had their own unique lights. This year, Roy had an amazing light show. I was able to capture some beautiful pictures.
Isn’t it so funny that that gold tree still has leaves on it? Way to stick it out tree! Also, my Dad had a sweet comment that the lights had a painting effect! Aren’t they just stunning??
On New Years Day, I had this great idea to take pictures at a near by botanical center in Kaysville. I was hoping that there would be some ducks or other birds there. 🦆
My husband was amazed when there were SO many ducks on a half frozen pond. Some were swimming, some were just running around. They were just having a great time. It was freezing, about 19 degrees F.
I guess ducks don’t care.
Don’t mind the time stamps. I forgot to take them off my camera settings during this shoot. 🤦🏻♀️ I am getting a new computer soon, and so I just figure I would leave them there…I can edit them out later. They give the picture character with my signature smashed into it.
I hope your holidays were something special and beautiful. Mine surely was. Please comment below if you know of any other great places to find ducks! 🦆🦆🦆
